Who makes Muster
Muster is an independent product, built by people who use it every day. The native UI, five database engines, the SSH client, the MCP server, the permission model: all of it in one binary. Releases land every week or two, and the changelog is the record. That pace is the point. The product has an opinion, a bug you report gets fixed the same week, and someone who knows the code answers your email.
What you own
$39 once, per device, perpetual. No subscription, no seat to renew, no tier that quietly disappears. Your key is a signature your own machine verifies, so day-to-day work needs no network at all. About once a day Muster confirms the key hasn’t been revoked. If that check can’t get through, it backs off and tries again later. It never locks you out. Only a deliberate revoke clears a license, and that is what a refund or a payment dispute triggers.
Where your work stays
On your machine. Muster is native desktop software. Your repositories, database credentials, SSH keys, terminal sessions and everything your agents do stay on your own hardware and your own servers. Muster’s own network traffic is short enough to name: activating your key, the once-a-day revocation check, the signed update manifest, and the daemon binary it installs on a remote host when you connect one. No analytics, no telemetry, no usage tracking.
How it’s built
- Claims get checked against the source. Every factual sentence on this site, 132 of them, was audited line by line against the shipped Rust. Where the copy read stronger than the code, the copy changed. The two security claims in that set were fixed first.
- Agents get guardrails, not adjectives. Any task can run in its own git worktree — a per-project choice, off by default. Agents reach your databases, hosts, diffs and issues through Muster’s MCP server with exactly the grants you gave, read-only until you say otherwise. Grants re-resolve on every request, so tightening one reaches an agent already running.
- Shipping is the roadmap. The changelog is the whole record: what landed, when, and what it replaced.
How it’s run
Muster is an independent product. Stripe processes the payment. Your key arrives by email and stays in your dashboard. The rest is spelled out in the Terms and the Privacy Policy.
