What’s new in Muster

Every release is listed below, newest first. Muster checks for signed updates on its own and installs them the moment you approve. You stay current without thinking about it. Fixes get named here as plainly as features, and the list below has about as many of one as the other.

The trial starts on the site now. Sign up, save a card — $0 charged today — and the key appears on your screen, ready to paste into Muster’s license prompt. One straight path: no more starting inside the app and finishing on the web.
The trial is 7 days. The card on file is charged on day 7 unless you cancel first — shorter, so the decision happens while you still remember the first diff. Cancel any time before from your dashboard and you pay nothing.
Conversion re-keys itself. When the trial charge lands, the app picks up the perpetual key on its own over the next heartbeat — nothing to paste, no lockout on the boundary day.
A declined trial charge is no longer silent. You get an email naming the retry date with an update-card link, and another if the card finally locks — instead of finding out when the app stops.
Fixes: a refused license key no longer masquerades as an active trial, the seat-full message quotes the real seat counts, an expired or revoked key is handled exactly (only “revoked” ever removes a key), the trial countdown points at the charge day, and the expired-trial screens link straight to your dashboard.
Onboarding’s license step now offers the trial too, and buttons that open the browser say so honestly — or drop the address on your clipboard when no browser will.

A 14-day trial. Start it here on the site — card up front, $0 charged today, and the key appears on screen to paste into Muster: full features, one per account and per device. The trial page and your dashboard count the days down and tell you plainly where you are — your data is never touched. (Shortened to 7 days in 1.6.)
Remote execution, finished. Worktrees, diff review with hunk and line staging, the repo panel, PR creation, automations’ actions, global search and the file tree now all run on a remote host, not just agents and terminals. Every connect re-verifies the remote agent and re-installs it when it doesn’t match; one still running is never replaced for you — anything too old says so and names the remedy instead of failing strangely.
Resume by session id. Where a CLI records its sessions on disk, Resume reattaches to the exact conversation; where it doesn’t, you get its session picker or most-recent session as before.
The muster CLI, whole. Queue enqueue / cancel / remove / clear / retry, task close / reopen / resume, and spawn now starts the agent by default. Queued runs work against remote hosts too.
Real backup formats. Plain or gzipped SQL for Postgres and MySQL, file or script for SQLite, archive or readable JSON for MongoDB — with a picker, and restores that refuse a truncated file either way.
Import adapters and share profiles. Drop in an agent adapter from a file or URL and it’s live without a restart. Profiles export as credential-free templates a teammate can import.
Security: flow-spawned agents now run under the project’s permission policy everywhere, approval prompts are bound to the spawn they belong to, and port forwards refuse an unverified host key instead of quietly adopting it.
Fixes: a SQLite restore can no longer corrupt the database it replaces, a failed backup never destroys the previous one, queue entries can’t start twice, and agent status survives an app restart under keep-running.
Per-task elapsed time on every row, and token/cost figures where the agent CLI actually reports them. Asana boards get real section statuses.
Removed: computer use (see 1.4), and the muster api verb — the control socket stays.

Scoped agent permissions. Grant a capability on one named database, host, project or worktree. Grants layer global → project → task and re-resolve on every request, so tightening one reaches the agent already running. Ask mode parks the agent until you approve the call.
Computer use (macOS, opt-in). An agent can drive the screen through a guard one process owns: a single exclusive input lease, capture and input rate ceilings, a sequence-numbered audit log, and a global stop hotkey when the guard runs in a daemon. (Removed in v1.5.)
A muster CLI that drives the running app: list, spawn, wait, attach, stream events, work the queue, and inspect or apply permission policies.
Desktop notifications with sound on macOS, Linux and Windows when an agent needs input, finishes, or fails.
Opt-in terminal scrollback that survives a restart, plus jump-to-blocked and attach-to-agent from the command palette.
14 more agent CLIs in the picker, taking it to 23 built-in adapters — plus your own as a TOML file.
A searchable config reference built into Settings, and per-key config validation: a typo degrades one key instead of failing the whole file.
Assigned-issue feeds and named Trello lists across the tracker integrations.

Multi-byte text is safe everywhere — seven string-slicing panics on non-ASCII input fixed.
The diff toolbar keeps Close pinned, and database status errors show a truncation cue rather than silently cutting off.
Run-command timeouts kill the whole process group instead of just the shell.

The remote daemon moved to TLS with a verified agent bootstrap and a hardened hook server.
A keychain-free secret store, so Muster works on machines with no system keyring daemon.
Command palette rebuilt with full-width rows and a description per action.
Live end-to-end suites against real database servers, and a visual harness that renders through real Metal, plus every defect the two of them caught.
The macOS DMG now carries an Applications shortcut.

Back up and restore a database from inside Muster — no pg_dump, no mongorestore, nothing to install.
Durable install of Muster’s own MCP server into a project repo or an agent’s global config.
Two more agent CLIs joined the roster, and provider descriptors arrived for DeepSeek, xAI, Mistral, Moonshot and fully custom endpoints. Point an agent at whatever endpoint you run.
Install an agent CLI from Settings in one click, straight into the selected profile, wherever the vendor ships an installer Muster can verify. The rest open their official install docs, and shell-script installers run on macOS and Linux.
Per-profile Node and Python versions, reusing the nvm and pyenv installs you already have.
An AI browser in the pane, with its own cookie jar per profile (macOS only).
The Resource Library became the single management surface, and project creation became a stepped wizard.
The full SSH host field set, with keychain-backed password authentication on macOS and Linux. Windows hosts use key auth.

Per-agent MCP capability control (DB read/write, tasks, hosts, diff, issues).

Side-by-side diff review, stage by hunk or line, commit, and open the PR. With the gh CLI signed in it is created in place; otherwise Muster pushes and drops you on your host’s create-PR page.
